The Celedonio Romero Guitar Institute is a high-level, high-community experience for classical guitarists who seek transformative study in the tradition of the Royal Family of the Guitar. Students receive daily instruction in technique, interpretation, ensemble, and musicianship with world-class faculty.This is a space built for rigor, joy, and deep artistic growth.
Audition Information — Celedonio Romero Guitar Institute
Admission is by video audition. Our process helps us understand your musicianship so we can place you in the most appropriate classes, ensembles, and masterclasses. All levels—from developing to advanced—are welcome.
Required Audition Materials
Upload video recordings (YouTube unlisted or Vimeo links):
1. Prepared Solo Work (Required)
Perform one classical guitar piece of your choice.
Repertoire may include:Baroque (Bach, Weiss) • Classical (Sor, Giuliani) • Romantic (Tárrega, Mertz) • Contemporary (Ponce, Brouwer, Assad, Dyens, York)
2. Technique Demonstration (Required)
1–3 minute video including:
Right-hand fundamentals
Major and minor scales (1–2 octaves)
Arpeggio patterns (e.g., P-i-m-a)
Slurs (ascending and/or descending)
3. Musicianship Snapshot (Required)
Choose one:

Welcome but not required:
Additional solo repertoire
Original compositions
Ensemble or orchestra excerpts
Recent performance footage
Assessment Criteria
All accepted students are placed appropriately into masterclasses, technique groups, ensembles, and repertoire sessions.
