About the Institute

The Leyenda Flamenco Dance Institute offers an immersive, inspiring introduction to the art, rhythm, and expressive fire of flamenco. Led by experienced flamenco artists and educators, the program welcomes dancers of all backgrounds into a world where storytelling, embodiment, and musicality converge.

Rooted in tradition yet open to individual expression, this institute guides students through compás, movement vocabulary, expressive phrasing, and the emotional landscapes that make flamenco a globally resonant art form. Participants learn through a warm, communal environment that celebrates culture, individuality, and the joy of movement.

This is not a program about perfection or pressure—it is a space where dancers of all levels can grow through thoughtful instruction, supportive collaboration, and a spirit of discovery.

No prior flamenco experience is necessary. No audition is required beyond a short introductory video that helps us understand your background, comfort level, and personal goals.

Audition Information

The audition for the Leyenda Flamenco Dance Institute is intentionally simple—designed to be welcoming, encouraging, and accessible to everyone, whether you are new to flamenco or expanding your dance training.

Please include the following:

1. Short Introduction

   • Your name

   • Your dance background (any style)

   • Why you’re excited about learning flamenco

2. Basic Movement SampleDemonstrate a simple combination showing:

   • Footwork (a steady rhythm, marcha, or basic pattern—beginner-friendly)

   • Arms & Hands (braceo, simple hand circles, or natural expressive movement)

   • One pose or turn (focus on presence and expression)

3. Optional Improvisation (20–30 seconds)Dance freely to music of your choice—any style.This helps us understand your natural movement and artistic personality.

All registered dancers will be thoughtfully placed into:

• Technique groups

• Compás & rhythm sessions

Placement ensures that every participant receives instruction appropriate to their background, comfort level, and artistic goals—fostering growth, confidence, and authentic connection to the art.
